Founding partners Lisa Schmidt and Benjamin Long of Schmidt & Long are moving- but we are still staying in Ferndale and are excited to bring something new to the city!
When we decided to share office space several years ago, we had difficulty finding office space that fit our needs. We also had difficulty finding a good space in Ferndale for events such as educational presentations. We both agreed that Ferndale needed more office space plus an event space. Initial discussions occurred, but we couldn’t pull it off then.
Fast forward a couple years, and we launched the Patchwork Collective. Opening soon at the corner of Woodward and Marshall in the front portion of the InkAddict building, The Patchwork Collective meets several needs for Ferndale and the surrounding communities:
- An open coworking space so people can pop in for a couple hours and work.
- Private office available to rent short-term
- Conference rooms for rent
- A large event space for networking events, meetup events, educational presentations and more
- Space for yoga and similar classes
- Pop-up retail
- Art exhibitions
- A community space
- And coffee!
Schmidt & Long will be part of the Patchwork space, as well. This will allow the patrons of Patchwork access to legal services. Additionally, this will allow us to be present within the Patchwork space- we are embracing the concept and will rent space as we need it, rather than having dedicated offices. Unlike some coworking spaces, Patchwork rents space short-term. We are targeting those people who work remotely or work from home. Alternatively, if a business needs to meet with a customer who is located far away or needs to bring together a team of employees from different locations, Patchwork offers the ideal space.
Announced to the public last week, Patchwork is already getting press. If you are interested in our space or being part of the pop-up retail or the art exhibitions, please contact Patchwork here. We look forward to becoming a larger part of the Ferndale community.
